To measure, follow these steps:
- Keep your thermometer by your bedside so you can check your temperature without getting out of bed in the morning.
- When you wake up, check your temperature by placing a thermometer in your armpit for 10 minutes. Try to stay still and keep your eyes closed while you do this.
- After 10 minutes, check and note the temperature and date.
- Do it for 3 mornings in a row, preferably at the same time.
Women should take this test on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th days of their period. Men and postmenopausal women can do it anytime.
Results
Optimal body temperature ranges from 36.4°C to 36.7°C.
- Anything below may show low activity and a slow metabolism, leading to symptoms such as low mood, dry skin, aches, tiredness, menstrual issues, chronic infections etc.
- Anything above may indicate hyper activity leading to symptoms of restlessness, irritability, low body weight, menstrual issues, worry and overthinking etc..
