Description
The Persian silk tree (Albizia julibrissin) produces elegant, fern-like foliage made up of many tiny leaflets that create light, dappled shade beneath the canopy. As the tree matures, it produces spectacular fragrant pink silk flowers in summer which attract bees and other beneficial pollinators.
Because of its unique foliage and graceful structure, Albizia julibrissin is often planted as a feature tree in ornamental gardens, wildlife or permaculture gardens, and warm sheltered landscapes.
As a member of the legume family, Albizia species can also help improve soil health through nitrogen fixation, making them beneficial in ecological and permaculture garden designs.
